Abstract
The subject of this article is the introduction of a certification trademark not only in terms of legislation within the EU but also in non-European countries. Certification trademarks are unique and have many specific characteristics that distinguish them from common trademarks or collective trademarks. While certification trademarks are a new kind of trademark at EU level, they have a long tradition in countries of the Anglo-American law system from where they spread further to countries of the mixed law system. The aim of the article is particularly to point out the major differences in legal provisions of certification trademark in countries with different law systems that are conceived from the point of view of selected countries that are representatives of the Anglo-American and mixed legal system, which is in some aspects quite different from the continental legal system that we find within EU.
