Abstract
Innovations in the areas of life sciences and medical technologies are crucial in today's society as their potential to solve the most significant challenges is very high. It consists of such an issues as nutrition and world population health and sustainable use of natural resources. The application and utilization of innovation is closely connected to the topic of intellectual property protection (IP protection) as the submitted paper reflects. Innovations in the mentioned areas are created not only in the private sector but in public R&D institutions as well. From this point of view it is important to include the topic of the technology transfer as a process of systematic transmission of research and development results from public R&D institutions into a private sphere. Need of the right orientation in these areas turns out to be especially valid in the time of culminated corona virus epidemy.
