Abstract
The article deals with changes in the law of designations of origin and geographical indications in connection with the accession of the European Union to the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on the protection of designations of origin and geographical indications. In particular, it analyzes the legal procedures for granting the effects of an international registration of a designation of a product originating in a third country in the European Union. It also addresses the conditions for the independent accession of a Member State of the European Union to the Geneva Act. It also deals marginally with the regimes for the protection of designations of origin and geographical indications after Brexit and the end of the subsequent transitional period.
