Vice-President of the French National Institut of Industrial Property on a Working Visit in Banská Bystrica
The President of the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic Mr Ľuboš Knoth has met the Vice-President of the French National Institute of Industrial Property Mr Jean-Marc Le Parco accompanied by the patent expert Yann Schmitt. At the meeting, which was marked by a spirit of friendship, current issues of development of industrial property in Europe resonated.
In the context of the culminating negotiations of the Select Committee of the Administrative Council1 of the European Patent Organisation (EPO) both partners exchanged the views on a number of still open questions concerning the setting conditions of unitary patent protection on the basis of the forthcoming European patent with unitary effect. The INPI Vice-President also promised that France will support the Visegrad Patent Institute in the World Intellectual Property Organization2 (WIPO). The mutual discussion dealt also with the preparations for the forthcoming Diplomatic Conference3 on the Revision of the Lisbon Agreement for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and Their International Registration, which will be held from 11 to 21 May 2015 in Geneva, Switzerland. The parties together highlighted the need for the close coordination of national positions also with respect to the European and global dimensions of the upcoming revision of the Lisbon system.
Ľuboš Knoth and Jean Marc Le Parco appreciated the openness and usefulness of joint discussion and expressed their wish to increase other opportunities for strengthening mutual bilateral cooperation in the future.
