Decent Finale of the IPO SR 20th Anniversary
The Prime Minister of SR Robert Fico received the Industrial Property Office of SR President Ľuboš Knoth, the European Patent Office President Benoît Battistelli and the President of the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market António Campinos yesterday in Bratislava. He appreciated the high level of co-operation of the IPO SR with the mentioned foreign institutions – important players in the area of innovations and their protection, and the pillars of intellectual property in Europe and worldwide.
– Co-operation with the EPO and the OHIM affects positively increase of the modernisation of technological level of services provided by the IPO SR to public. It is e. g. building the electronic access to patent documents of high quality, creating of other possibilities for electronic applications filing, education of patent and trade mark experts and building the awareness of our citizens on European patent system. – The Prime Minister Robert Fico also mentioned the forthcoming institute of the European patent with the unitary effect and related Agreement on the Unified Patent Court. – The Government of SR agreed with the proposal to conclude the Agreement with the recommendation for the President to ratify the Agreement after the approval by the National Council of SR. It should be done by the end of this year and Slovakia will be one of the first states ratifying this Agreement. The European patent with unitary effect and the Agreement on the Unified Patent Court should be also the motivation for research without which the knowledge economy can not be built, what is one of the priorities of the Government of the Slovak Republic.
At the meeting there were presented the information related to forthcoming activities in the area of the Community design, the institute to be used more in future, to projects of Co-operation Fund and Convergence Programme of the OHIM aimed at providing services to national offices experts and to clients more effectively and to harmonisation of the practice of national offices in proceedings on trade mark and design applications.
B. Battistelli and A. Campinos also stressed the need of innovation activities and creativity development and the fact that their institutions as well as the Slovak Office are always ready to protect meaningful solutions industrially and legally. They are also looking forward to further co-operation with the IPO SR.
Ľ. Knoth: - Receiving by the Prime Minister Robert Fico means a lot for Slovakia and for the IPO SR too. We were reassured that getting innovations and their using in practice on a higher level, moving our Office forward and providing the clients the services of the highest quality are of the great interest of the Government of SR.
Also the Minister of Economy Tomáš Malatinský received the representatives of the IPO SR, the EPO and the OHIM.
