95 Years of the Intellectual Property Office of Serbia
On November 16, 2015 the Intellectual Property Office of the Republic of Serbia (IPORS) commemorated 95th Anniversary of the establishment. The festive academy took place at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Belgrade with the presence of the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Patent Office, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market and national patent and trade mark offices from the whole of Europe including representatives of the Industrial Property Office of SR – the President Ľuboš Knoth and the Director of the Legal and International Affairs Department Tomáš Klinka.
The festive academy, the central event in the framework of the program of the 95th Anniversary of the IPORS under the auspices of the Government, was opened by Nevenka Novakovic, Acting Director of the IPORS. She emphasized that 95 years of the IPORS confirm the importance of the IP protection in relation to innovative and creative industries and thereby also for the development of the competitiveness of Serbia.
On this occasion, the two-year contract on cooperation including the professional training, activities to increase the IP awareness, development of related tools and services, making patent information available, etc. between the European Patent Organization (EPO) and the IPORS was signed.
The IPO SR representatives appreciated the effort of the IPORS to come closer to European standards in the IP area, its popularisation activities aimed at emphasizing the importance of innovations and creative industry and wished the Office successful future for at least another 95 years. The IPO SR and the IPORS also signed the Memorandum of Cooperation for the next 5 years.
